The following poem about Eli arrived from Bev today. It reads to the rhythm of "Twas the Night Before Christmas". She is so witty! Thanks Bev!
Eli's Christmas Eve
Twas the night before Christmas
And all through the house
Only Eli was stirring
Much louder than a mouse
He sniffed at the stockings
Hung with special care
And thought to himself
Is that a dog toy in there?
He sniffed again and tilted his head
Then off in the distance
He heard, "Eli, get back to bed!"
He turned back to the room
And jumped on the bed
His eyes grew heavy
Then he lay down his big head.
He dreamt of dog toys and lots of snacks
Then plotted ways of a midnight attack...
Visions of tennis balls, toys and snacks
As far as his pretty black eyes could see
And what's that over there,
Something under the tree?
Running then pouncing on a pile of presents
He ripped apart the pretty gift boxes
He opened a new blender, ipad and sweaters
underwear, gloves, shoes and soxes
This is no good he thought to himself
Surely there must be something for me
Underneath this brightly lit Christmas tree?
Then all of a sudden, his nose kicked into gear
what's that on the table?
Something for Santa and his reindeer?
With one quick gulp and a lick of his chops
Off to the kitchen to find what someone hopefully forgot.
A sniff here and a look over there
Is that a turkey he smells up high on the rack?
Then all of a sudden, he quickly looks back...
"Wake up Eli, it's Christmas day!"
Licking his chops and wagging his tail
"You are such a good boy, Eli" they say with a loving pat,
Merry Christmas to all, now let's eat and get fat!
